TOEFL Results & Scores
Your performance on the TOEFL exam is evaluated in four sections, and your score ranges from 0 to 30. Based on the individual scores, you also receive an overall score ranging from 0 to 120.
The TOEFL has a very straightforward scoring system:
- You receive one point for each correct response.
- Incorrect answers do not result in a failing grade.
The TOEFL score is good for two years after the result date.
Your test results are available to four universities at no cost thanks to ETS. There is an additional fee of $25 to $29 USD per university if you would like to submit your results to more than four.
How to Prepare for the TOEFL Test?
You can approach the preparation for the TOEFL in two ways: by self-study or by enrolling in coaching sessions.
Self-study using TOEFL books and resources might be a preferable choice if cost is the main factor. Similarly, joining a TOEFL coaching at AECC is a better choice if you require expert advice to guarantee an advantage when preparing for the exam.
Regularly read academically written materials, such as university textbooks, that span a range of subjects (such as the social sciences, sciences, arts, business, etc.). Academic texts come in a multitude of formats and can be found in magazines, journals, and online.
Apart from these:
- Instead of reading every word in the passage, practise skimming it to get a sense of the main idea.
- After skimming the text, read it again attentively, making note of the key details and the passage's main idea.
- Examine each of the four answer choices carefully.
- To identify the passage's major and minor points, create an outline of it.
- Using the outlines and charts, summarise the passage either orally or in writing.
- Rephrase specific sentences within a passage. Next, summarise whole paragraphs.

What connects these three areas is the same practical angle. She does not write about tests, courses or application documents in the abstract. She writes about what students need to know when they are actively deciding: which test is required for a specific course and destination, what a particular discipline looks like across different countries, and what makes an SOP or LOR work for a student with a specific academic background. That specificity comes from two decades of student consultations.
Her articles across the AECC platform have been read over 650,000 times. The breadth of topics she covers reflects the range of questions students bring to consultations, from which exam to take first to how to write a CV that works for an international university application.
