About University of Dayton

Founded in 1850, the University of Dayton is committed to the common good. As a Catholic, Marianist university, it values building community and invite people of diverse talents and backgrounds to join them in creating a better world. UD students are bold thinkers and servant leaders who use their gifts and talents to make a positive impact on the world. More than 8,200 full-time undergraduates and 2,600 graduate and law students call UD home, and its 90 percent retention rate shows that students love UD.Across all, the university offers more than 80 undergraduates and 50 graduate and 12 doctoral programs, numerous licensure and certificate programs, and many other ways to learn. The academics are challenging. Not just for the sake of it, but because there are real challenges in the world that need to be met. That way, when graduation arrives, students wont be entering the real world for the first time. They will already be part of it, fully prepared for their career — and for life. The University achieved a gold STARS ranking for its sustainability efforts, and Sierra magazine ranked it as Top 20 Coolest Schools list for displaying a deep and thorough commitment to protecting the environment.Inside the RecPlex, students will find every recreation amenity imaginable, including an indoor pool, an elevated track, a climbing wall, the latest exercise equipment and a juice bar. Campus Recreation offers several fitness and training programs to help students achieve healthy habits that will build a lifestyle of strength and wellness.Life imitates art. From the ArtsLIVE performance series to living and learning complex, ArtStreet, the art scene at UD is alive and well. Whether students want to help the homeless or just make new friends, there are more than 270 student clubs and organizations at their disposal. Run for student government office. Become the broadcast news anchor on Flyer TV. March with the Pride of Dayton band. Join Habitat for Humanity. Volunteer at an elementary school. Work with the Rivers Institute to promote river conservation. Build and race a concrete canoe. Students are able to discover any number of activities to match their passions and talents. And if none of those options fits them, they can create their own club.Situated on the banks of the Great Miami River in southwest Ohio, less than two miles from downtown Dayton, there’s always something fun to do on and around campus. Indoors or outdoors, rain or shine, they are a community of doers.
